Therapy with Kate Loosmore

Psychotherapy for individuals, in West London and online

WELCOME TO

You might be feeling isolated, lost, burnt out, or anxious. Perhaps you feel stuck repeating cycles that you’d like to escape, having the same arguments and ending up in the same situations. Maybe you compare yourself to those around you and find yourself lacking somehow.

We will explore the problems you are facing together, at a pace you are comfortable with. This is a place to be creative and curious. My style is warm and empathetic and I work with clients collaboratively, as equal partners in an alliance.

I understand that coming to therapy may seem daunting, and it might feel like you don’t know where to begin. I will do all I can to put you at ease and create a supportive, reflective space in which you feel safe. My priority is the relationship we will build, as this creates the perfect arena for challenging old patterns and starting something new. This is a place to say exactly how you are feeling, without fear of judgement or rejection.

Can therapy help you?

About me

I have completed four years of training and have a master's degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am fully accredited with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists, and have four years of experience working in private practice. I also have a degree in English Literature, and like to use literature and philosophy as a means of getting immersed in the messiness of human experience in all its breadth and diversity.

Rumi writes, 'Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it'. This is how I understand my task as a psychotherapist: to assist in removing the obstacles that block a person in their quest for a richer life more filled with care and connection. These obstacles may be habitual and deeply embedded, but I suggest that you would not be considering psychotherapy if some part of you, however small, did not have hope that things could be different. My work with others and my own personal therapy have given me first-hand experience that this is the case.

You may have heard of therapeutic modalities like CBT and psychoanalysis, as well as existential and humanistic psychotherapies. You might even have experienced these in the past. Something these approaches have in common is the idea that we can often internalise scripts about others and ourselves that stand in the way of true connection. My approach is integrative, meaning that I have training in each of these ways of working but adapt to provide a therapy that changes with you and looks deeply at how your past experiences shape your present, but also about your identity more widely, what you value and find meaningful. My focus will always be on understanding you as fully as I can.

I am bisexual and of mixed heritage, and welcome clients from all backgrounds, orientations and gender identities.

I am particularly interested in working with concerns of identity and intersectionality, and have experienced working with a variety of issues, including:

  • past traumatic experiences

  • sexuality and gender identity

  • shame

  • low self-esteem

  • loss of meaning and burnout

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • sex and relationship difficulties.

I have worked with clients who have formal diagnoses and those who don't, and welcome both.

My clients have said:

"I genuinely cherish the time and effort you have dedicated to helping me grow and heal. Your insights, guidance and perspective have been invaluable to me."

"The sessions I had with Kate were transformative. I feel at rest in a way I never have in my life"

"Kate's patience, gentleness, and confrontation (when I needed it) were amazingly helpful. Our sessions gave me compassion for myself"

Sessions and fees

Sessions are weekly and last for 50 minutes. I charge £65 per session, with a limited number of spaces available at a reduced fee.

There is no limit to the number of sessions you can have, and I do not work to a pre-determined, step-by-step schedule. You decide whatever you would like to bring each week, and we will regularly review what you want from therapy and how things are going.

Location

I currently work in person from HQ Therapy Rooms in East London. All rooms are comfortable and entirely private.

I also work online via secure video calls, meaning you can reach me from anywhere in the UK.

Use the form below to tell me more about yourself and what you're looking for. I will answer any questions you have about the process, and we can arrange a time for a free fifteen minute consultation. This will help us find out more about one another and decide whether I am the right therapist for you.

All enquiries are confidential, and I aim to respond within 24 hours.
